Uploading your art is a big step, it means you’re putting your creativity out into the world. Here are some helpful tips to make the most of your online showcase.

 1. Prepare High-Quality Images

  • Use clear, well-lit photos or scans of your artwork. Avoid shadows, glare, or blurry shots. Save images in common formats like .jpg.png, or .webp.

💡 Tip: The maximum file size upload is 10MB.

2. Resize Your Images for the Web

  • Aim for a maximum width and height no more than 2048 pixels. This helps your artwork load faster and display beautifully on all screens, from phones to desktops.

3. Use Meaningful File Names

Instead of IMG_001.jpg, use:

yourname_year_title.jpg 

It’s good for both organization and search visibility.

No. Only the finalists need send their artwork. Finalists will be notified as soon as initial judging is completed.

Watercolour, acrylic and oils are all acceptable. Works on paper must be professionally mounted suitable for hanging.

Yes, but please include or arrange the return postage with your artwork and remember to insure your work.

Yes, please make sure your packaging is suitable to transport your artwork back to you, too, as it will be returned in the same packaging.

The entry fee must be paid online at time of entry.

Yes, 150cm x 150cm is the limit.

And the image file for upload to this site must not exceed 10Mb.

Under our rules, digital prints are not acceptable.

Yes, we welcome entries from anywhere in Australia.

Yes, you may. Each work should be entered separately, with the fee payable per entry.

Artworks will be repackaged in their original packaging and returned as soon as possible after the exhibition closes.

Yes. All artwork entries require submission of an Artist’s Statement of maximum 75 words.

Yes. Only paintings selected as finalists may be made available for sale. Harden Art Prize will require a 20% commission on all sales of artwork. 

Only paintings executed entirely in the 12 months prior to entry closing date, not exhibited previously in any other art prize or award will be considered for judging
